Carroll charged with felony after alleged assault at school

Ferron Thomas Carroll, 59 years old, has been charged with a felony after allegedly assaulting a family member at the Paris Gibson Education Center on January 23.
According to court documents, a male victim reported that he and Carroll were walking to the school's exit doors when Carroll became angry , pushed him against the wall, grabbed his throat, and punched him 2-3 times in the face.
The victim said that it was hard for him to breathe when Carroll grabbed his neck.
The documents state that several students and school staff members witnessed Carroll assaulting the victim.
Carroll has been charged with one felony count of strangulation of a partner or family member.
He is a registered sex offender with a 1992 conviction for sodomy on a child and rape of a child in Utah.
The state requested bail be set at $20,000 and that the court require Carroll to stay 1,500 feet away from the victim, his school, residence, vehicle, and place of work at all times and have no contact whatsoever.
