Brian James Azure has been charged with felony robbery after allegedly stealing items from a convenience store and threatening to kill an employee.

According to court documents, the Great Falls Police were called to the Loaf 'n Jug at 1225 Central Avenue West because a man who had stolen merchandise and threatened an employee the previous night was back.

After the officer contacted Azure, Azure said he had just been kicked out of the store by an employee.

Video surveillance of the night before shows Azure preparing to leave the store without paying for several items.

Court documents state that the video shows the store manager confronting Azure, who then placed one of the items on the counter.

The store manager said Azure then told her, "[Expletive], call the cops, I'll kill you." The manager told police she felt scared.

Azure admitted to police that he took the merchandise without paying and blamed the "spirits" for anything he said during the incident because he didn't remember.

Court documents state that he eventually told police he remembered telling the store manager to call the cops but denied threatening anyone.

Azure has a 2014 partner/family member assault conviction and 2004 convictions for robbery, burglary, and theft, as well as numerous probation violations.

He also has two felonies from the 1990s including deliberate homicide/use of a weapon and burglary, according to court documents.

The state has requested bond be set at $20,000 as well as active alcohol monitoring or participation in the Cascade County Sheriff's Office's 24/7 Sobriety program.
