Bowl For Kids Sake underway in Helena

Posted: Jan 26, 2018 9:42 PM Updated:

Friday was the first of three big nights for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Helena. The organization kicked off its Bowl For Kids Sake event at Sleeping Giant Lanes.

The first rounds started about 5 p.m. Friday, and cosmic bowling began around 9 p.m.

Bowl for Kids Sake is a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters and comes at an important time as the organization recently lost about a quarter of its funding due to state budget cuts.

Claire O'Connell, office manager for BBBS, said this has been one of the most successful fundraisers so far with 79 teams registered compared to 55 teams last year.

She hopes the increase in registration will help ease the $115,000 budget shortfall.

"This can be our biggest fundraiser,” O'Connell said. “We also do Wine Crush in May, but this is just one of our more exciting fundraisers. It's a very popular event in Helena."

O'Connell says they hope to raise $100,000 dollars from the event. This years theme is "Vegas wedding" and visitors are encouraged to come wearing costumes.

If you want to participate, head to Sleeping Giant Lanes Saturday or Sunday night.
