The Lewis & Clark Humane Society is partnering with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Animal Planet for their "Puppy Bowl" promotion to get animals adopted.

On Saturday, January 27th, the LCHS will host a tailgate kick-off for the promotion where people can meet the animals at the shelter, get a picture with them, and grab a bite to eat.

Through February 4th, the Humane Society will be offering $52 adoption fees and $25 enrollment for getting your animal microchipped.

There will also be a friendly competition between cats and dogs to see which one has more adoptions and raises more money.

Dog Program coordinator Kat Martineau says they hope they can get every animal adopted - but are making sure the find the right home at the same time.

“We sit down and we talk with everybody and making sure that they’re going to the right home,” says Martineau, “That they’re going to be happy, that the dog is going to be happy and that it’s the best fit.”

Starting January 28th, if people tag their social media pictures of Humane Society animals with #PUPPYBOWL there is a chance that the photo will appear on Animal Planet.

LCHS also said that even if people can’t adopt an animal they can still bring in donations.  Science Diet dry food, tough toys, and small blankets are currently the most in need.

The LCHS is located at 2112 E. Custer Avenue.
