Thirty-three Cascade County programs will receive money thanks to another successful United Way fundraising campaign.
The United Way of Cascade County raised more than $1 million in its annual campaign.
It’s the 8th consecutive year the organization has topped one million dollars in funds raised and donations came from more than 3,000 people.
While the money raised benefits Cascade County programs, the need from nonprofits continues to rise, according to Marketing Director Kim Skornogoski.
“We raised more than a million dollars yet we were only able to fund about half of what nonprofits asked of us and this year, we expect that request to be even higher," she said. "The number of sources that nonprofits have to lean on for their funding is getting smaller and smaller between state budget cuts and anticipated federal budget cuts.”
Last year, the United Way helped nearly 24,000 people through the campaign.
