Two students injured during field trip near Marias Pass

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office says that two students from Bigfork High School were injured during a field trip near Marias Pass on Tuesday a little after 11:30 a.m.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, the students, one male and one female, were snowshoeing in Glacier County about a mile from U.S. Highway 2.

The students were standing on a cornice that broke loose, causing them to fall 8 to 10 feet, Curry said.

The students were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

One student was taken by ALERT helicopter, and the other was taken by Two Bear Air helicopter.

The nature and severity of their injuries has not been disclosed.
