Tiffany Renee Costa of Billings faces several felony charges after she crashed her car while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with her two young children in the vehicle.

Costa, 29 years old, is charged in Yellowstone County Justice Court with two counts of felony child endangerment and one count of felony assault on a peace officer.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on South Plainview Lane and Fairvale Drive in Billings on Sunday.

As officers approached, Costa was seen swaying as she tried to stand.

An officer who spoke with Costa reported the strong smell of alcohol on her breath.

Costa’s speech was slurred and her eyes appeared bloodshot and gloss, according to court documents.

Costa’s two children, ages 6 and 4, were in the vehicle at the time.

The officers arrested and Costa and took her to the patrol car.

As she was being placed into the back of the patrol car, Costa allegedly kicked an officer in the face.

Costa later told jail staff that she has an alcohol problem and needs help.

The driver of the second vehicle involved said he was driving down Plainview Lane when he saw the oncoming vehicle without headlights in his lane.

The man swerved to avoid the crash but hit the oncoming vehicle.

Costa is being held at the Yellowstone County jail.
