Montana Outfitters Guides and Association held a symposium on Saturday to talk about the conservation of wildlife and the fact that chronic wasting disease has arrived in Montana.
Chronic Wasting Disease is not curable; it's not a virus or a bacteria.
Mule deer are the main source and it is also found in elk and whitetail.
The animal becomes very sick looking.
Fish Wildlife and Parks say they have conducted a 3-year high-priority surveillance plan around the state of monitory CWD.
Wagner Harmon, President Montana Outfitters and Guides Association, said its important for all sportsman and landowners to realize that this is something real.
"It's important for everybody to understand that conservation and protection of the wildlife are extremely important and this particular issue could be devastation not only for a sportsman but also the communities," said Harmon.
FWP said it is imperative that if people report sittings of mangy or diseased looking animals, so FWP can set up a management plan to take care of that.
