Stephen Scott Hargis has been charged in Great Falls with stealing hundreds of dollars of prescription medication.

Hargis is listed in court documents as the pharmacy manager, and is a licensed pharmacist.

Police officers responded to the Albertsons store on 10th Avenue South several days ago and talked with store managers about the reported thefts.

The managers said that they began surveillance on Hargis when they became suspicious that he was taking prescription drugs from the dispensary in June 2017.

According to court documents, surveillance video shows Hargis taking the drugs from the dispensary and either placing the pills into his mouth, or into the pocket of his pants.

When questioned by police, Hargis reportedly admitted taking the pills for personal consumption.

The drugs he is accused of stealing are: Buprenorphine, Alprazolam, Diazepam, and Modafinil.

The value of the drugs that he stole is estimated to be $795.

Hargis is charged with five felonies: one count of theft (embezzlement), and four counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutors requested that bond for Hargis be set at $2,500, noting that he has no criminal history.
