Cold air will be hard to clear out this week

Posted: Jan 02, 2018 4:44 PM Updated:

High pressure is developing over the West, and temperatures will get a boost in the days ahead.

STORMTracker meteorologist Mike Rawlins says we're finished with the deep freeze and some cities will actually make it into the 40s by week's end.

While areas east of the Rockies will jump above freezing, many valleys of western and southern Montana won't.

Valley inversions will strengthen as the week progresses, locking in cold, polluted air near the valley floor.

At this time, no significant rain or snow is expected in the next week.
