Man in the road shouting at vehicles survives after being hit by SUV

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Highway 12 on Monday night. The incident happened just after 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of 11th Avenue.

The Helena Police Department says that officers were dispatched to the area for a report of a man in the road shouting at vehicles along the 1600 block of 11th Avenue.

Before officers arrived, a 911 call was received that the man had been hit by a vehicle.

The man was taken via ambulance to St. Peter's Hospital. The nature and severity of the man's injuries has not been disclosed, but police say that they were not life-threatening.

The road was blocked for several hours while officers investigated the crash.

The preliminary investigation indicate that the 32-year old man from East Helena was in the road when he was hit by the eastbound 1997 Ford Explorer driven by a man from Helena.

No citations were issued, and the incident is still being investigated.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of 11th Avenue near L&D Chinese Buffet.

There is no word yet on how the crash occurred or the condition of the victim.

According to the police, more information will be available on Tuesday.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 12 were closed at Sanders Street while police investigated and traffic was detoured.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
