There is a large wildland fire in Jefferson County located in the Cardwell/Whitehall area west of Highway 69.
Helicopters and planes are attacking the wildfire, which is just north of the Golden Sunlight Mine near Whitehall.
The fire is currently between 500-1000 acres with federal, state, and local volunteer agencies including Whitehall VFD, DNRC, FS, Boulder/Bull Mtn VFD, Willow Creek VFD, Twin Bridges VFD, and more all working this fire.
The Conrow Incident Commander requests using extreme caution traveling through the areas from mile marker 9 through 11 on Highway 69, as this an access point for responders and equipment. Please SLOW DOWN.
There are no evacuations in place at this time.
No injuries have been reported, and there have not been any reports of damaged homes or buildings.
