While the Lodgepole Complex fire near Jordan has been contained, there are still many ranchers struggling to feed their livestock.
On Saturday, ranchers from the Columbia Falls area and Bonners Ferry, Idaho passed through Great Falls on their way to donate hay to eastern Montana ranchers in need.
Seven trucks with around 125 tons of hay made the trip.
Donation coordinators Shawn Watt and Deena Shotzberger said they had a good harvest year and wanted to help.
"You can't help but feel for people who are losing their entire livelihood and the ability to care for their families so anything we can do," Watt said. "This is a tiny drop in the bucket but at least it's a drop."
The hay, semis, gas, and drivers' time was donated.
According to the coordinators, the donations came from family-owned ranches and farms rather than large companies.
