The man whose body was found in the Missouri River in Great Falls on April 2nd has been identified as Shawn Michael Cox.
Cox was 46 years old; he was a transient.
Cox was reported as a missing person to the Great Falls Police Department in March.
A woman walking her dog on River’s Edge Trail on April 2nd discovered the body along the north side of the Missouri River behind the Calumet Refinery, just west of the 9th Street Bridge.
The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office and the Great Falls Police Department have determined that Cox's death was a homicide.
Detectives from both agencies are continuing to investigate, and need any information that people may have regarding this case.

(MARCH 7, 2017) The Great Falls Police Department has issued a missing person alert for Shawn Michael Cox.
The GFPD says that they are trying to locate Cox so that they can check his welfare. His family has not heard from him in several week.
The GFPD says that Cox is is a transient and has been known to stay at homeless shelters. They believe he was seen in Great Falls near the end of February.
The GFPD says that Cox suffers from mental illness. Cox is 6'4", about 145 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
