GREAT FALLS -

Timothy Wayne Richter has been charged in Great Falls with possession of meth and endangering a child.

According to a probable cause affidavit, police officers were called to a residence on 17th Street North on Monday, March 13th, to assist a Probation & Parole officer.

Richter's parole officer had showed up at Richter's residence and reportedly found meth inside a black zippered bag. The bag also contained spoons, several small baggies, and apparent drug residue.

The affidavit says that Richter admitted the drugs were meth, which he "was thinking about distributing."

The charging document states that 28.03 grams of meth were found.

Richter was also babysitting his girlfriend's 7-year old child at the time.

The affidavit notes that Richter and the child were the only ones in the residence at the time, and that the bathroom where the meth was found is the only bathroom in the residence, and that the child had access to the bathroom.

Richter is charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs (felony); endangering the welfare of a child (felony); possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute (felony); and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

According to state prison records, Richter has convictions in Cascade County for criminal possession of dangerous drugs and burglary.

On Tuesday, a judge set Richter's bond at $25,000.

However, at the time of the arrest, Richter was on conditional release, so he will not be eligible to post bond.
