Meloney Kraus of Great Falls is facing embezzlement charges after she admitted stealing money from the Albertsons grocery store on 10th Avenue South.
According to the Great Falls Police Department, Kraus was caught on video taking money out of a cash register.
She was hired at Albertsons in the fall of 2016.
Court documents state that the thefts occurred from September 2016 through February 2017.
GFPD says Kraus admitted to stealing $5,144.99 from the store after she double and triple-scanned Coinstar receipts and stole almost $300 worth of merchandise, as well as processed a NorthWestern Energy utility bill.
She claims she was in a “rough spot."
Court documents state that Kraus' criminal record includes bail jumping, assault with a deadly weapon, multiple DUIs, battery, and felony possession of narcotic controlled substance.
Kraus, 44 years old, is facing a charge felony embezzlement, which has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine.
Prosecutors requested that bail for Kraus be set at $10,000.
