MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE -

Santa's elves have been busy at Malmstrom Air Force Base preparing goodie bags ready to deliver to airmen.

On Thursday, bakers came together for the Cookie Express.

Community members baked more than 13,000 cookies for the annual event.

Around 20 volunteers came out to pack the bags that will be dropped off at the dorms and at 24 work centers across Malmstrom.

"Just the happiness that comes from the airman. Especially the ones that live in dorms because you see them go back to work and there like you'll never guess what was in my dorm. It seems like the mission never ends. You are always focusing on the mission, even when you are with your family. It lets them know that with all that dedication they are also getting a little bit of love from the Wing. They are appreciated for everything that they give," said Master Sergeant Micheal Filipovich of the 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron.

School children helped decorate bags and also made Christmas cards to be distributed along with the cookies.
