VAUGHN -

Emergency crews responded to a small fire in Vaughn on Thursday.

It happened along Medicine River Road on the west side of Vaughn, between MT Highway 200 and the Sun River.

The property owner tells us their power went out at about 2:15 p.m.

Her son went outside and discovered the fire.

She believes that a tree that had been weakened by beavers got hit by a strong gust of wind and fell on a power line, sparking the small grass fire.

Firefighters tell us it burned an approximately 100-foot area of grass and three trees were taken down.

There were no injuries.

Vaughn, Manchester, Black Eagle and Sun River volunteer fire departments, along with NorthWestern Energy, responded.
