York -

On Saturday, the York Fire Department hosted its 13th annual York 38-Special Mountain Bike Ride.

The 38-mile bike ride is a fundraiser for the York Volunteer Fire Department.

The course was shaped in a loop that started in York, goes to the Martiens, Indian Flats, Vigilante Campground, and back to York.

The money raised goes toward rescue equipment and training new EMT’s.

About 160 people took park in the ride.

The youngest competitor in the 38 mile route was 12 years old, and the oldest at eighty years old.

Rider Fred Flanders said, " This is my 8th or 9th time. And I just love the route. It's just so picturesque and beautiful. It's very well supported. The York Fire Department does a terrific job."

A younger rider, Leo Anderson, described his ride and said, "And I crashed on the single track. And it was pretty fun, all around it was really fun."

The ride raised about $8,000 and takes place each year on the last Saturday in August.
