The Helena Police Department says that the victim of the shooting has died.
The name of the male victim has not yet been released.
The search for the suspect continues; no other details have been released at this point, other than that the suspect is a male wearing "long shorts."
Helena High School - which is conducting summer classes - has been placed in lock-down.

UPDATE: The Helena Police Department released the following information at 12:41 p.m.
At approximately 1109 hours, the Lewis and Clark County 911 center received a report of a gunshot victim in the 1200 block of Bozeman. Officers and medical units responded. Lifesaving efforts on the victim, an adult male, failed. The male died on scene. Officer checked the immediate area around the shooting for the suspect, without success. After the initial investigation it is not believed there is an immediate threat to the public. A possible witness to the incident described the suspect as a white male with basketball shorts and long socks. No further description is available. The investigation is continuing and officers will remain in the area throughout the day. It is requested the public remain away from the area to avoid traffic and pedestrain congestion.

UPDATE: The Helena Police Department released the following information at 3:22 p.m.
Detectives are still on scene, processing the crime scene. We are no longer actively searching the area for the suspect. Detectives and Officers are currently following up on investigative leads to identify the suspect. At this time we do not believe there is an immediate danger to the public.
(1st Report, 11:44 a.m.) A person has been shot in Helena. The condition of the person has not yet been released. It happened at about 11 a.m. near the intersection of Bozeman and Montana streets, between Montana and Roberts. Law enforcement officers are searching for the suspect. There has been no description of the suspect at this point. Officers are asking public to stay away from the scene until further notice. The Helena Police Department, Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Office, and Helena Fire Department are at the scene, and crime-scene tape has been placed around the area. We will update you as we get more information.
