Posted: Updated:

Starting this weekend, the American Legion Veterans Committee will being traveling around Montana to honor female veterans.

The Women Veterans Recognition Luncheon series is designed is to honor all veterans but especially those from World War II.

The American Legion is the largest veterans service organization.

Kim Kay McCarty-Martin say they want to make sure these women are honored for being great patriots, warriors, and healers for the United States.

"A lot of the women were told that they were not veterans. It is time to fix that problem before we lose all of our World War II female veterans, to thank them for our service and they did not get,"

The first luncheon will be in Missoula on Saturday at Post 27 825 Ronan Street.

On May 21, the group will be in Big Timber Post 19 110 East 3rd Avenue.

And on June 4th, They will head up to Havre to the Eagles #166 at 202 First Street.
