GREAT FALLS -

The University of Great Falls Lady Argo basketball team will add Gabby Fought of Great Falls High School to its roster.

Fought is the fourth member of UGF’s incoming class of women’s basketball players, and the first in the class from the state of Montana.

“The fact that this is home - it felt like home with the girls here. I just got along better with them, than other schools,” Fought said at her signing. “I like Coach Bill. He really cares about the girls. Just when I came here I knew it was right for me.”

Fought, a 5’8” guard, was the third leading scoring for Great Falls High School during her senior year and helped lead the team to a 2nd place finish in the state. Her all-around game led to a versatile stat sheet over the course of her senior season, averaging 7.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.3 assists per game. She also shot 30 percent from the 3-point line.

“She’s a great passer and she shoot the basketball, so that’s going to fit right into the mold of a lot of our other guards,” UGF head coach Bill Himmelberg said. “I love how Gabby competes. If someone shoots a three in her eye, she’s going to come down the floor and try and match it and then get after it defensively. I love that about her.”

Not only is Fought a local player but she has also attended a number of Himmelberg’s summer basketball camps on the UGF campus over the past few years.

She will be the second local player on the Lady Argo roster, joining incoming senior center Brice Henning, who also played at Great Falls High.

“We’ve been trying to get Montana kids. That’s been a focus for us and we’re just excited that we can get one from Great Falls,” Himmelberg said. “To have another local girl to help increase the attendance is going to be good. We think we put a good product on the floor and we’d like to have more fans locally to come and see.”

The Great Falls local will join two guards from Washington, Jenna Randich and Cayden Diefenbach, along with the state of Oregon forward Erin Malcom to complete the still in progress 2016 class.
