Crosstown Rumble back for round two in 2016

Posted: Updated:

Great Falls native Todd “Kid” Foster knows a thing or two about boxing. So when the former national Golden Gloves champion and US Olympian throws his name behind a local event, it’s best to pay attention.

On Friday, Foster brings us the revived Crosstown Rumble for a second year pitting athletes from CM Russell against Great Falls High in the squared circle.

Last year’s event was a runaway success, rivaling the atmosphere of the old crosstown smoker events in the 1980’s. Although the Crosstown Rumble is not affiliated with the Great Falls Public School system, Foster used the proceeds from 2015 and donated $1000 each to CMR and GFHS.

The fight card is still a work in progress, but this year’s event should feature approximately 11 matches. Foster says the 2016 event should be just as successful as last year’s which attracted more than 1000 spectators.

“Last year I think we had better attendance for our boxing match than crosstown football games and basketball games so that was nice to hear,” said Foster. “Years ago in the 1980’s it was a big successful event and we’re trying to bring it back.”

The 2016 Crosstown Rumble begins Friday at 7:30, once again at the Paris Gibson Education Center. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Ringside tables for 8 are available. Call Todd Foster at (406)564-0650 for more information.
