A wildfire has broken out in Jefferson County just near the Butte-Silver Bow County border.
Initial reports put the size of the fire at more than 10 acres.
Leona Roderick, spokeswoman for the Beaverhead-Deer Lodge Forest, says that air retardant helicopters and hand crews are on the scene.
Other fire resources have been ordered from a variety of agencies.
The fire is located several miles off of Highway 2.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
UPDATE, 7 pm: The fire has now grown to more than 200 acres. We're told that as many as 300 homes in the area are being evacuated.
A Type II incident team has been called in.
