Great Falls residents got a chance to learn about the culture of Tibet through a unique event over the weekend.

Njawang Chojor visited the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center to create a compassion mandala, sand art he hopes will bring more compassion to the area.

Chojor has made mandalas for such prominent people as the Dalai Lama, but this week he was in Montana to help the cause of the Tibetan Children's Education Foundation.

Karme Tinsum, director of the foundation, noted, "These sort of cultural events give me a platform to talk about Tibet, the needs of Tibetan refugee children and then try to get support for our programs."

The 75-year old monk has been making mandalas for over 40 years.
