Student ornaments adorn Capitol Christmas trees

Governor Brian Schweitzer and First Lady Nancy Schweitzer recently invited Montana elementary and middle school students to make decorations for the 56-county tree display in Montana’s Capitol Building.

Students from nearly 100 classrooms responded, sending in ornaments expressing this year’s theme of Montana Heroes.

Now the 56 trees are adorned with the ornaments and on display for viewing on the second floor of the Capitol building.

If you can't make it to Helena, you can see pictures of all of the trees online at http://www.opi.mt.gov/10_HolidayTrees/.

“I would like to thank all the students and teachers who sent ornaments this year and also State Superintendent Denise Juneau and the staff at the Office of Public Instruction for their assistance creating and hosting the website of photos for everyone to enjoy,” said Governor Schweitzer.
