The recent death of a student from Montana State University-Northern has prompted her peers to better their lives by staying out of dangerous situations.

Shaina Evans, 20, died in an alcohol-related car accident near Winifred in June.

Now friends of the Northern volleyball player want to honor her memory by preventing another accident through a project called "Shaina's Challenge."

One of Shaina's friends, Paul Tokarski, said, "Make a promise to yourself, your friends, people you live with...anyone you know. If someone can't drive, make sure they get home safe so we don't have another incident."

"Shaina's Challenge" is not just about drinking and driving, but holding others accountable for making safe decisions such as buckling up and not texting and driving.

Shaina's friends are selling bracelets in her honor that read "Make Promises, Save Lives."

Over 1,600 people have already ordered the bracelets for $2.50.
