Students in Judith Basin County were able to get outside the classroom on Thursday to learn more about the state's natural resources.

The Judith Basin County Conservation District held it's annual "Natural Resource Days" event at a ranch in Raynesford.

Every year the event brings together different speakers and activities to give kids a hands-on understanding of conservation, wildlife and natural resource issues.

This year nearly 70 students from Hobson, Geyser, and Stanford took part in the event.

Steve Hedstrom of the Judith Basin Conservation District noted, "I think the youth need to be educated early on. There's a lot of misinformation out there and if the kids get a chance at an early stage, they really pick this up."

This year a representative from Zoo Montana in Billings brought animals to show the kids like a snake, a cockroach, and a turkey vulture.

The event also included lessons about water quality as well as science experiments and games for the kids.
