GREAT FALLS - Great Falls police are continuing their investigation into what has now been confirmed as a meth lab on the west side of town.
An official with the Russell Country Drug Task Force confirmed to MTN News on Wednesday morning that the incident they responded to at 1st Avenue SW and 13th Street on Tuesday is a meth lab.
Officers responded to the home at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving a report of an "unwanted person" in the home.
When police arrived, they say a handful of people fled the scene, and officers found the meth lab inside.
Officers were not sure if the home was occupied full-time, but say it didn't appear to be.
Sgt. Eric Baumann of the Russell Country Drug Task Force said, "The homeowner apparently had some people inside the home that were unwelcome. I don't know to what extent, if they were squatters or if they had forced entry inside the home or what caused them to get in there, it's still kind of early for me to say, but it's safe to say that the homeowner found someone inside the home that didn't belong there."
Police say they have a suspect, but haven't made any arrests yet.
