This year marks the 39th anniversary of Roe versus Wade, a Supreme Court ruling which gives women the right to choose to have an abortion.
On Thursday NARAL Pro Choice Montana honored Governor Brian Schweitzer (D-MT) for vetoing four bills last session which they believe were anti-choice legislation.
NARAL reports states enacted more than twice as many anti-choice measures in 2010 than they did in 2011.
Montana Director Julianna Crowley says in total 26 states passed anti-choice measures.
"We applaud Governor Schweitzer as standing as the last line of defense against state legislators who left unchecked, aimed to systematically dismantle women's reproductive freedom," Crowley says.
"You believe as I believe in the private personal right to health care," Schweitzer says.
Friday pro-choice advocates will rally at the Capitol to celebrate the anniversary.
