A bill abolishing the death penalty in Montana died in the House Judiciary committee on Friday morning.
MT State Senator Dave Wanzenried's (D-Missoula) bill would have replaced the death penalty with life in prison without parole.
The bill previously passed the Senate in a 26-24 vote.
Also on Friday, the House Judiciary committee killed a bill that would have decriminalized homosexual sex.
MT State Senator Tom Facey's (D-Missoula) bill would have removed language from Montana Code which defines deviate sexual relations as sexual contact or sexual intercourse between two persons of the same sex.
The bill previously passed the Senate in a 35-14 vote.
