A team of financial experts met in Helena on Tuesday and says that no one is too young to learn how to manage money.

The Montana Financial Education Coalition held its 2010 annual conference today. MFEC works to educate Montanans on how to make wise financial decisions.

The topics of the conference ranged from preventing the exploitation of the elderly, to teens facing credit issues.

Financial Educator Heidi KnudsonEducator Heidi Knudson says her workshop teaches educators how to help kids make good financial decisions.

Knudson explained, "Finance education isn't a requirement in our school system anymore, and so people - meaning kids - are leaving middle school and high school without any budgeting information, without any tools to make them successful, when they leave high school, when they leave their parents house. So the earlier we can get that information to them, the more set up for success they are going to be in the long run."

Knudson teaches Biz-Kids in Billings and Red Lodge where middle-school students learn the importance of financial decision making.
