HELENA - Montana Commissioner of Higher Education Clayton Christian announced on Monday that Neil Moisey has been selected to fill the post of Deputy Commissioner for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs.
Moisey has filled that role in an interim capacity since September of 2012.
The appointment is expected to be confirmed by the Board of Regents during its September meeting.
Moisey was selected from a field of candidates following a national search led by John Cech, Deputy Commissioner for Two-Year and Community College Education.
The search advisory committee included representation from across the Montana University System.
Moisey's academic career includes a tenured professorship at the University of Montana in the College of Forestry.
In 2011, University of Montana president Royce Engstrom appointed Moisey as "President's Leadership Fellow." The fellowship enabled Moisey to gain experience in leadership and in providing strategic guidance on a multi-campus level.
As deputy commissioner for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, Dr. Moisey will report directly to the Commissioner of Higher Education, serving in a staff support role to the system's governing board, the Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education.
