Missing person alert issued for Cherie Runkel of Bozeman

The Montana Department of Justice has issued a Missing/Endangered Person Alert for Cherie A. Runkel of Bozeman.

Runkel, 41, was last seen Thursday morning, November 29.

Her vehicle, a red 1999 Honda Passport with Montana plates 6-15269A, is also missing from her home.

Runkel is 5' 4" tall, about 120 pounds, and has brown eyes and hair.

She also goes by the names Cherie Gehlhausen and Cherie Laduke.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office at 406-582-2100 or Montana Missing Persons at 406-444-1526.


UPDATE, December 1st, 1:58 pm: Deputies located the vehicle belonging to Cherie Runkel in the Pine Creek area south of Livingston.

Park County and Gallatin County searchers are in the area trying to locate Runkel.


UPDATE, December 1, 5:25 pm: Cherie Runkel, the Bozeman woman reported missing on Thursday, has been found dead in Park County.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, Park County Sheriff's Office, and both County Search and Rescue units located Runkel's body in the Pine Creek trailhead area of Park County on Saturday.

The Park County Coroner's Office has ruled the incident as a suicide.

No other details have been released.
