BILLINGS - A shooting in Billings has left one man dead.
The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday off of King Avenue near Office Max.
According to Billings Police Chief Rich St. John, a Yellowstone County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in the shooting.
No information about the man who was killed has been released at this point.
Sheriff Mike Linder will be providing more information at a 3:30 p.m. press conference.
Witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots.
Authorities have closed King Avenue between 24th Street West and 29th Street West as they continue their investigation.
UPDATE: The Montana Department of Corrections has confirmed that the man killed in the shooting on the Billings west end on Friday was escaped inmate Dean Randolph Jess. Click here to read more.
