A man is dead after being hit by a rolling delivery truck in an apparent suicide on the University of Montana campus on Friday.
The man was caught under the rear wheels and dragged several feet before the truck came to a stop, UM police said.
The 61-year-old man was taken to the hospital and died after 1:30 p.m. from blunt force trauma to his body, according to Missoula County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jason Johnson.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Novak said it appears the man threw himself under the wheels intentionally to kill himself, adding that while an investigation is still underway, the driver probably won't be cited.
The truck had been making deliveries on the east side of campus, behind the University Center. Police said witnesses heard the man screaming in pain after the accident.
The man's name has not been released while authorities try to reach his family members, who are believed to be from out of state.
