Forty-five seniors from the Helena School District were honored on Monday for their achievements.
This year marks the Helena Education Foundation's 8th annual Celebration of Excellence.
Half the students are being honored as Distinguished Scholars for their academic achievements; the other half are being recognized as Distinguished Achievers.
These students were nominated on the basis of leadership and overcoming hardship.
Achiever Lindsy Nix manages to balance her role as a single mother and student, and she said, "It's hard because I juggle going to school, getting him up and making sure he is ready for daycare. I go to bed at 12 and wake up at 6 a.m. making sure that he has everything he needs and making sure that we make it to daycare and school on time without having to be late."
Each honoree gets to recognize one teacher who has helped them along the way; Nix chose Mrs. Kline from Helena High School.
