Helena Hype Fair aimed at promoting tutoring program for students

Elementary school students receiving free or reduced lunch in Helena may also qualify for free tutoring services.

Parents of students at Bryant, Central, and Smith elementary schools are invited to attend an event this weekend to learn how to sign up for the services.

The free tutoring services are offered as a part of the U.S. Department of Education's "No Child Left Behind" program.

Michelle Mariacher, a parent of one of the students, said, "It was a great surprise because that meant my son would be able to complete the necessary tutoring that he needed to get caught up with the grade that he is in."

The event - called the Helena Hype Fair - will be held on Saturday, October 13th, at the Helena Middle School auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There is no charge for admission.

The first 200 students will receive a gift card to the Parrot, and there will also be a drawing for a trip to Disney World.
