Jason Roan, a dentist who once practiced in Helena, was sentenced on Friday on a charge of criminal endangerment.
Roan sat silently as the judge read his sentence recommended by the prosecution in Helena district court.
Roan was given a three year deferred sentenced with no early release, with conditions.
He must also serve 40 hours of community service in his field of dentistry.
He will be on probation and parole, and must pay restitution of $2,675 to the Crime Victims Fund.
Roan was originally charged with sexual assault, however, with an Alford plea, it was reduced to criminal endangerment.
The victim in the case read out loud an emotional statement to Roan, calling him sick and deceptive.
She stated, "Finally the day has arrived, Mr. Roan, where you will take responsibility for the horrific barbaric acts you inflicted on me 15 months ago."
The court sealed the details of the record.
(April 6, 2011) Jason Roan, a Helena dentist, will not go on trial as originally scheduled.
Roan entered an Alford plea on Friday to the charge of sexual intercourse without consent with a woman he met on an online dating service.
The plea means that he admits that there may be sufficient evidence to find him guilty in the trial, originally scheduled for next week.
His attorneys were able to amend the charge to criminal endangerment.
Judge Jeffrey Sherlock ordered Roan to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.
(May 20, 2010) Jason Roan, a Helena dentist, is facing charges of sexual intercourse without consent for allegedly raping a woman.
Roan, the owner of Meadowlark Dental, appeared before Judge Sherlock on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the affidavit, the victim and Dr. Roan met on an online dating site.
The victim went to Roan's home where the two had consensual intercourse; it was during this time that Roan allegedly told the victim that women should be submissive to men.
The affidavit then states that Roan committed non-consensual and violent sexual actions on the victim.
