Evans was a student and member of the volleyball team at Montana State University-Northern in Havre.
The Montana Highway Patrol says Evans was thrown from the vehicle in the crash, which happened at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday. MHP Trooper Scott Fox says Evans failed to negotiate a long, left-handed curve on Secondary Road 236.
She overcorrected and the car slid off the roadway, rolling several times. Her passenger, an unidentified 18-year-old woman from Havre, was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

According to the accident report, the roadway curves to the left and the driver ran off the road to the right. After over-correcting, the Toyota Camry went into a slide and rolled multiple times, landing on the wheels.
