The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the driver of the semi-truck that crashed into two passenger cars on Highway 87 near Billings on Wednesday night was distracted at the time of the accident.
Three people were killed in the accident, and two others were transported to a local hospital.
A female passenger remains hospitalized at St. Vincent hospital in Billings, and an infant who was taken by HelpFlight to St. Vincent has since been flown to Denver.
Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports that neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
The crash happened Wednesday night shortly after 8 p.m. between mile markers 15 and 16, near the turn-off to the Billings Motor Speedway.
The Montana Highway Patrol says a car and Jeep were heading north on Highway 87 when the semi-truck crossed the center line hitting the car and then the Jeep.
Authorities have not released the names of any of the people involved in the collision.
