Great Falls Police have released more information about Saturday night's murder-suicide on 12th Avenue South.
The shooter, John Lesh, had apparently stolen property from his neighbors in the past, which led to altercations between Lesh and his neighbor, Christian Weiland.
Lesh apparently targeted Christian and Rachelle Weiland just minutes after stabbing Connie Popham to death in the home they shared.
Lesh knocked on the Weiland's door, and when Christian Weiland greeted him, he fired one shot, grazing the Weiland. Lesh then shot at Rachelle Weiland through the window before killing himself. Rachelle was not hit.
In their report, police also stated that Lesh called an associate twice on the evening of the shooting; the first was at about 6:30 pm, and Lesh told the other person that he and Connie were arguing. During the second call, made shortly after 7:00 pm, Lesh told the other person that he had stabbed Connie to death and that he was going to commit suicide.
Authorities have not disclosed the name of the person that Lesh called. It is not known what triggered the deadly incident.
