The Missoula Mavericks have been a thorn in the Chargers side all season, so its only fitting that the two teams square off for the State Title. The Mavs have won 6 of the 8 over the Bolts, the last one a 17-5 trouncing 2 days ago. But tonights matchup is the only one that counts, with the 2010 State Championship up for grabs.

Great Falls topped the Billings Scarlets 6 to 5 earlier today to get here, but they only had a few minutes to rest before this game began, would it be an issue?

In the top of the 1st, and just like last night, Kendal Maier with a solo shot to deep left field. It's 1-0 Mavs early on.

They kept it going in the top of the 2nd. Sam Sopko with high one hopper over the reach Hunter Carlyon's glove, Steven DeYoung scores from 2nd and it's 2-0 Missoula.

But, it's not a championship without some controversy. Ben Roberts flies out to right. Casey Johnson comes up firing. We got a play at the plate. Riley King slides, Cole McPherson right there, ump says safe. Aaron Johnson takes exception. Either way 3-0 Missoula.

Similar play in the top of the 3rd. King with a pop fly to center. Jake Bleskin catches and fires, this time Kendal Maier called OUT to end the inning.

Great Falls gets on board in the bottom of the 4th, McPherson grounds straight to 3rd.overthrow sends him to 2nd. Trevor Johnson scores to make it 3-1. Moments later, Jake Olson blasts a line drive to right. McPherson slides and scores, 4-2.

The Chargers with one last chance in the 9th. 4 to 3 now, and with Cole McPherson on 3rd, Tucker Cook flies out to Ben Roberts.

And that would be it. The Chargers lose to the Mavericks for the 7th time this season. And in their first year since the merger...take 2nd in State, losing 4-3. Afterwards, the players were obviously disappointed.
