Carroll Linebacker Casey Norbeck Earns Player of the Week

WHITEFISH - Carroll College linebacker Casey Norbeck has been named the Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.

Norbeck, a 6-foot junior linebacker from Butte, had a career day against Rocky Mountain College, compiling three solo tackles, three assisted tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery which he returned 46 yards for a game-clinching touchdown. Carroll held off Rocky 19-6, snapping a two-game losing streak by the Saints.

Also nominated: Cord Berg of Dickinson State, James Chandless of MSU-Northern, Josh Johnson of Rocky
Mountain College and Dakota Wainwright of Montana Western.

Tech quarterback Nick Baker earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, following the Diggers two overtime win at Montana Western. Baker threw four touchdowns, including the game-winner in double overtime.

Other players nominated: Anthony Clark of Carroll College, Dylan Kramer of Montana Western, Mickey Payne of Rocky Mountain College, Stephen Silva of MSU-Northern and Dave Velasquez of Dickinson State.

Tech punter Travis Farewell was also acknowledged as the Frontier Conference Special Teams performer of the Week. MSU-Northern's Travis Baum, Rocky's Nick Knell and Carroll's Jared Mayernik were also nominated.
