Business boom in Helena following Custer project

Office supply store Staples is slated to move its business out near the new Custer Interchange from its current location near Walmart near Highway 12 west.

The City of Helena Building Division has approved construction of a new store off of Washington Avenue near Hardees and Costco.

While the building permit has been approved, it has not yet been issued.

The city department says it is awaiting payment as well as the name of the contractor.

Plans for construction show a more than 15,000 square foot building as well as a parking lot facing Washington Street.

Staples has 6 months after approval to demonstrate progress.

Plans for some new stores are in the works, too; the interest came after the new interchange was built on Custer Road.

While nothing has been approved at this point, plans show four buildings just to the south of Home Depot: TJ Maxx; Ulta; Rue 21; and Shoe Carnival.
