Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials are looking for suspects who poached a large bull elk late Sunday afternoon and took only its head.

The poaching incident occurred sometime around the third quarter of the Super Bowl.

According to reports, the crime was committed on a hillside near McClellan Creek and Sawmill Roads.

Dave Loewen of MT FWP said, "We found that it was a large bull elk, it had been shot and left and abandoned, and its head had been removed, which indicated to me that it probably had a large set of antlers and somebody had shot it and killed it just to retrieve those antlers."

Loewen is asking if anyone heard or saw anything suspicious in that area during that time to call 1-800-TIPMONT.

Informants can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a $1000 reward.
