Blackfeet chief presents Bill Cosby with gifts before Great Falls show

GREAT FALLS - Legendary entertainer Bill Cosby visited Great Falls for a show on Thursday night, and to welcome him to Montana the Great Falls Advertising Federation wanted to do something special.

The Ad Club asked Blackfeet Tribal Chief Earl Old Person to present Cosby with a Pendleton blanket and some sweetgrass before Cosby's show at the Mansfield Theater.

Old Person said the blanket, called "The Storyteller," was obtained by the Ad Club and chosen specifically due to Cosby's ability to tell stories.

He said the blanket is given to someone as a reminder they met.

"We do this when we express our appreciation to someone that we feel wanted to be with us, come to our area, and to be a part of us," Old Person said.

Old Person said he gave Cosby the honorary Indian Name "Brings Laughter" and would like to see others follow in the path of Cosby by encouraging and uplifting others.

Cosby is beloved by generations of fans, and is known for his early days in stand-up comedy, his role on the 60s TV show "I Spy," his animated 70s hit "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids," and of course his long-running 80s sitcom "The Cosby Show."
