3rd suspect taken into custody in Lewis & Clark County

Lewis & Clark County Undersheriff Dave Rau has confirmed that a third person has been taken into custody following an hours-long search by law enforcement officials.

Police officers and Sheriff's deputies spent much of Wednesday afternoon pursuing the suspect who was involved in the reported theft of a vehicle.

Two people were apprehended sometime after 3 p.m., but the third person continued to elude authorities until finally being taken into custody in Lincoln.

Authorities have not yet released the names of any of three people, nor given out any further information at this point.

(3:55 pm) Law enforcement officials in Lewis & Clark County have spent much of Wednesday afternoon pursuing a suspect involved in the theft of a vehicle.

The pursuit took place in the Helena Valley and resulted in several roads being blocked off in the area of Forestvale and Sierra.

Two suspects are now in custody and officers are looking for the third suspect who they believe is in the stolen vehicle.

The Helena Police department is assisting the Lewis & Clark County sheriff's office in the investigation.

The vehicle is a 1988 or 1989 Dodge flatbed pickup, blue and silver in color, with some chipped paint, license plate number 5C-07551A.

Law enforcement advises anyone who comes in contact with the vehicle to not approach it and notify authorities immediately.

We have heard several unconfirmed reports that Rossiter school was briefly placed in lockdown due to the police activity.

Authorities have not yet released the names of any of the three people.
